An Aberdeen woman charged in a string of burglaries and accused of aiding her husband after he escaped made a brief court appearance Monday.

Kristin Barnes, 22, did not enter pleas in the cases.

Barnes is charged with four counts of burglary, one count of concealment of a prisoner, one count of false reporting, one count of obstructing law enforcement and one count of aggravated eluding of law enforcement. Obstruction and false reporting are misdemeanors; the rest of the crimes are felonies. Barnes also faces burglary charges in another case.

She is married to Todd "T.J." Barnes, 20, of Aberdeen, who escaped from law enforcement last month after being taken to the hospital. He has since been captured. He has already pleaded guilty to two counts of burglary and now faces a host of other escape- and theft-related charges. Bookmark and Share

Ok now, the truth must come out... she DID NOT order a pizza. That is not how she got caught. Read the paper, she got caught by helping her husband escape. Aggravated eluding IS NOT the fact that they "attacked" someone while running... Spouting off at the mouth before KNOWING the facts is hilarious.... read the following it is the definition of aggravated eluding...

Aggravated eluding law enforcement officer as felony--Enhanced penalties. Any driver of a vehicle who flees from a law enforcement officer or attempts to elude the pursuit of a law enforcement officer is guilty of aggravated eluding if, at any time during the flight or pursuit, the driver operates the vehicle in a manner that constitutes an inherent risk of death or serious bodily injury to any third person

This couple has found themselves in a very bad case of "where did we go wrong". For the people of the community, they weren't the hardened criminals that everyone made them out to be, but they do have a history. And now history will send them to prison, or jail or both for a very long time. Hopefully the judicial system in Aberdeen will be able to find their courage to do the justice that has to be done.

I'm guessing the "aggravated eluding" is because they attacked people as they fled, rather than just running. Hope the pizza was good.

Hmm... I wonder how the pizza is in the Brown County Jail? What a foolish thing for her to do.

What is "aggravated eluding"?
How does it differ from regular "eluding"?
