Former Faulkton hospital torn down
Published on Tuesday, November 03, 2009
FAULKTON, S.D. (AP) — Crews have finished tearing down the 19,000 square-foot building that contained the old Faulk County Memorial Hospital after attempts to sell the structure failed.
Faulkton opened a new hospital two years ago. After efforts to sell the old building didn't work, the Faulk County Commission looked for other ways the county could use it.
But officials approved the demolition after deciding it would cost too much to turn it into jail space.
County Auditor Pat Holdren says the demolition began about a month ago but had been delayed due to wet weather.
