RAPID CITY: Man convicted of murder placed in jail
Published on Tuesday, November 03, 2009
RAPID CITY, S.D. (AP) — A Rapid City judge on Monday revoked the bond of Robert Goulding, who was found guilty last week of murder in the death of 56-year old Alan Kissner.
The 52-year old Goulding, of Rapid City, had been allowed to go home for the weekend and was wearing an ankle monitor.
Prosecutors argued that Goulding was a danger to the community and to himself.
He admitted shooting Kissner in the head execution-style in what he said was an assisted suicide.
Circuit Judge Merton Tice said he believes the killing was an act of compassion but that he also believes Goulding could be a danger to himself.
Goulding will be sentenced to life in prison without parole on Nov. 13. Defense attorney Tim Rensch says Goulding has high hopes for a successful appeal.
